I like it much better than Shout, their last release. I really prefer Mule when they are either in that slow introspective mode on songs like 'Endless Parade', ' Captured', or 'Gordon James' or straight out rockin'. This album has a little of everything. I really like about half the songs. 'Traveling Tune' is by far my favorite song just because of the guitar work. It made me sad and longing at the same time. Listen to it and you'll understand. The guitar solo totally has that blissful ABB sound I'll never experience live again at an ABB concert.

I'm taking my whole family to see Mule in August. My son is 15 and plays so I hope it flips the switch for him. Hopefully they'll do a ABB tune or play a lot of the classic material from earlier albums.

I only picked it up last week so I really haven’t listened to it more than 2 or 3 times. There is definitely some good rockin’ tunes we have come to expect from the Mule. There is a couple that are a departure from traditional Mule (Sarah Surrender) for example. Not sure about anyone else but I hear Hall & Oats. Not in a bad way I am not dising Hall & Oats or Mule for doing it. It’s just a departure.

Some other tunes sound like possibly something you might hear on a Warren solo record.
There are a couple that come to mind (Revolution Come Revolution Go) That I’m sure will work into a great jam live. It has a nice funky sound to it.

Dark was night, Cold was the ground, is another that will be a crowd favorite.
One tune that I’ve really liked right from the first listen is Click – Track. Fun, rockin’ tune “Bonham didn’t use it neither did Charlie Watts”

I've only given it a listen or two, and only once was where i could pay attention. but i agree with the others on here, I liked about 1/2 of the songs. the rest were either okay, or i didnt care for as much. i also got the feel that a few sounded more like they should have been on the next WHB album.

It will be interesting to see how many of these make it into the rotation (after they are done with the next tour or too) and how they evolve.

Jzfunk it's similar to every other Geordie Johnson produced Mule record. "Traveling Tune" is a great song. The rest ... well ... like any other Geordie Johnson produced Mule record recorded in or near Austin. No rush to purchase.

It's always great to have new music from Warren in any form. This new album is no different a good mix rockers, ballads ,soul music he writes great lyrics more political then ever which I happen to think is cool.First impressions can change if willing to listen to the songs a few times. For any one not so sure give it try you wil not be disappointed.Great South Bay music fest this Saturday I'll be there.

Good music. I haven't been hooked on the whole album yet. Strangely I put in the bonus disc first in the car and was pretty into that, but the main disc hasn't had the same effect.

Again, good music, I like it, but didn't have as a whole no "it" factor for me where I couldn't get enough of it. It's still in the car so I'll give it more time.

The last new studio Mule CD I was really really into was By A Thread. Loved that one and still do!

Just getting around to listening to this. I too put the bonus disc in 1st.

Warren can write some lyrics:

"Dreams & Songs"

My whole life's been filled with songs and dreams
When I was a child I had a time machine
Little did I know it would go too fast
Little did I know it could see the. future
But not the past

Leave it all behind
Come what may
Always thought I'd be comin' home someday
Little did I know that life is hard
Here I am, now, starin' out a window
In my own backyard

Is there any comfort to be derived?
In knowin' that most of our lives
Can never be the same
Can never go back home
And those that count out lucky I guess
Can somehow escape from this mess
Me I can only do it in dreams and songs

Tryna fill a hole while runnin' a race
Leave some even bigger empty space
But a movin' target is harder to kill
Never was one for takin' the easy
I'm standin' still

Nowadays I'm by myself again
Throwin' stones and caution to the wind
Nothing's really changed but the scenery
Starin' into my child's eyes
I realize what it all means to me

Is there any comfort to be derived?
In knowin' that most of our lives
Can never be the same
Can never go back home
And those that count out lucky I guess
Can somehow escape from this mess
Me I can only do it in dreams and songs

Is there any comfort to be derived?
In knowin' that most of our lives
Can never be the same
Can never go back home
And those that count out lucky I guess
Can somehow escape from this mess
Me I can only do it in dreams and songs

Dreams and songs

This from some interview:

Mule began recording its new album, Revolution Come, Revolution Go, on Election Day 2016, but Haynes says the band was more concerned with addressing the widespread division within the country than pushing its politics.

“There are a few songs that have some sort of political connotation,” he says, ” but they’re from an observer’s standpoint. I don’t like to get into a preaching sort of position…There’s probably more songs about reflection and relationships because Gov’t Mule just celebrated our 20th anniversary [in 2014].”
