How to do a swimming flip turn. Once you add them to your workout, you kick it up a notch. Check it out.

Went back to the gym yesterday. A great mental and physical lift. I need to keep motivated. I'll keep trying to get there.

Well done kevdab. Stick with it. Three to four times a week does it. Two months down the road you'll feel like a million bucks and be all the more motivated. Go for it!

I've had a good past two weeks at the gym. Tough getting there, but once I'm there it's all good. Cardio, resistance training, crunches, and wall push-ups. Spending around 75- 90 minutes working hard. Taking today off, going back tomorrow.
I quit smoking on January 29. Put on an extra 15-20 pounds since then. I need to loose that, plus another 30.
I feel so good after my work-outs. Physically and mentally.
Also working a bit on nutrition. Week-ends are tough though.

Thanks for bringing this back up. I've been running well and I'm at 25 miles per week on 3-4 runs. I had a really nice 10K on Labor Day. I have the ATC 10-Miler this Sunday, Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving Day and then a couple December 5Ks on the books.

I need to be doing some strength training (even just pushups & minor ab work) as I've gotten very slack in that category and it's important as well.

Enjoyed reading about your success kevdab.

Do you listen to music while you do your workouts?

I find it makes all the difference in the world. I make playlists so I can listen to what I'm in the mood for.

One thing that helps me control my calories is making big pots of vegetable soup, spaghetti sauce and red beans (less the rice) and freezing the leftovers. I can take them out and microwave. Makes it easier to not eat junk and/or too big of portions.

Best of luck to you.

Started swimming long course (50 meters) earlier this year. I like it better in that you get into more of a rhythm plus the pool is outdoors.

Congrats to everyone on their training. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have a great I-Pod with all kinds of music. I couldn't go to the gym without it. I try to cook on Sundays, making soups or tomato sauce for the week. Lately, up here in Boston area, it's been like summer weather, and I haven't been doing much cooking.
During the week, I seem to eat healthier. Week-ends are tough. Plus I like to have a few beers on Friday and Saturday afternoons.
I've got three weeks in a row of good gym activity. Better than if I hadn't done anything.
