No.

Hope this helps.

Why?

I read today where Selig wants to add another wild card team into the playoff format, five teams total in each league. The two wild card teams would play a best of 5 to determine who advances. (this must mean the public is clamoring for it.)

IMO, that's a dumb idea. It means 6 teams will not play for a week while the first series is played. Historically, teams that have a layoff, like they sweep the LCS, generally don't do well in the next series.

And when will the WS end? Thanksgiving?

They should shorten the regular season and add more teams to the playoffs, IMO.

They could have 28 teams in the playoffs and the Royals wouldn't make it.

Oh wait, they traded DeJesus for a couple of minor league pitchers. They'll be OK.

Wasn't really thinking about the Royals. The baseball playoffs only generate excitement (and TV ratings) in cities that the teams are from and baseball purists wherever they may be. Opening up the playoffs more adds more interest, IMO. I've never understood the extreme resistance to change in baseball. Add more playoff teams and add a camera looking straight up the foul pole already...

I have a different opinion. I don't like watered down playoffs. They make the regular season less important. I prefer to have the best teams only in the postseason. It would suck to have a mediocre team sneak in and get hot and win it all.

The regular season, all 162 games of it, is irrelevant from a playoff standpoint for well over one-quarter of MLB teams by May 1st anyway.

I doubt it will change, just an opinion. Adding more teams creates excitement in my eyes, but we all have different eyes!

I see where Jeter won another Gold Glove. Alexei Ramirez had 499 assists to Jeter's 365. Ramirez made 20 errors to Jeter's six, but threw out 134 more runners. Alexei got robbed.

Sabathia is 30, so is Texeira. Granderson can't hit lefties and he'll be 30 before Opening Day. The Yankees are going to have an old shortstop for the next few years, and their pitching isn't that good.

Hope this helps.

30 is old?
Sounds like thier prime years to me

Twins' Morneau wants Target Field adjustments

headline on espn.com

Justin Morneau is a great player, but the quintessential it's-all-about-me ballplayer -- the guy has missed tons of time including the last two stetch runs when it looked to me like he mae no effort at all to help his team, fearing he might get hurt -- now he's talking all this crap, when he's barely even played in Target Field

Justin should concentrate on making an effort to earn his paycheck --

the end of the story said "he says he hasn't fully recovered from his concussion, but says he's feeling better"

we'll never see a full season out of Justin -- he's too concerned about getting hurt -- so where does he get off talking about renovations to the field...

The Twinkies had the best home record in baseball I believe.

I am thinking Justin's request will be denied

Yes they did, the article said that -- best home record, Twins

How can he say something like that and not think he'll lose respect -- he should be saying, "I'll walk through fire to be ready next season -- we'll be better than ever and so will I be."

So you make it more friendly for one type of hitter, then another type says the fences are too far away, yadada -- a ballpark is a ballpark, they didn't build Target Field to be baseball-unfriendly, as their home record/attendance showed -- it can't be perfectly custom-built to this or that players' likes/dislikes --

all I'm sayin' is -- will we ever see the fire that made Justin the 2006 MVP & playing like that this year -- that's what the injury seemed to knock out of him -- his desire to play -- to not even be there for pinch-hitting in the playoffs...& it's not like he was knocked cold or anything on the injury, he walked off the field & no big deal was made of it

the guy is great, but he missed the 2009 stretch run too with what he claimed was a "bad back" & it hurt the Twins, just like this year

get well soon bro

The thing is, his fans wanna say, "You know Justin wants to be out there..."
but the injury seemed so minor at the time, and to not give his team a lift by making himself available for the playoffs, even if it was for spot pinch-hitting duty -- plus it's not like he's had multiple concussions like McMahon & those guys, it was his first one...
he must have devastating headaches and severe dizzy spells -- but it's just that that hasn't been reported...
I mean what could happen? He goes up there, the crowd is roaring -- but that still wouldn't prevent a headache from coming along I suppose...
he's one heckuva player, no doubt about that -- hopefully he can come back

Congrats to Felix Hernandez for winning the AL Cy Young!

Looks like the voters do look at ALL the stats, not just W-L.

This is not good, not good at all. Victor Martinez has agreed to a 4-year, $50 million deal with the Detroit Tigers. Damn. Apparantly Theo thinks that Salty is the man...hopefully he has some other cards up his sleeve. F&@k!

Salty has tried and failed in both Atlanta and Texas. Well, there is always Tek. Just sayin...

Hence, the curse words.
