I bought tickets through the pre sale for the first time in yrs. for 3/12.I usually do better in the general onsale. I have never seen anything like this . I was in at 9:59 (not kidding) and tried to pull up a single for 3/21. Got nothing. Just crazy. It is what it is and I will find a way to be there that Saturday, its just annoying to know ticketmaster takes a bundle of tickets, set them aside for their auction and then another bunch goes to ticketsnow which they own. After the pre sale and the AMEX pre sale, how many tickets r going to be available in a 2800 seat theatre. Not many. Live and learn.

I guess I could have taken a vacation day to sit here at night and hope I got tickets on the pre-sale.

I had a dream Thursday night that we scored Row B, Seat 28. I was very happy we got tixs but was alittle disappointed that it was way off to the side *LOL* After hearing on Friday that we got shut out, I was kicking myself for dreaming that I was a bit upset about the B28's. Ha!!

I'm really disapointed, I tried to offer 900 billion dollars for 2 seats, but I couldn't get above 99 billion dollars . Must be my credit score.

Seats were available for the pre-sales...but did not want to sit all the way left or right next to the doors or the upper balcony back row. Have found that pre-sale seats were usually not very good and always got very good seats with general sale. Happened to be home at 10am on Friday...

At least I'm not the only one that was shut out...although it doesn't make me feel any better. I feel badly for ALL of us! Really missed the Beacon last year (my husband and I spend the weekend in NYC w/ the ABB concert as the focal point). We do enjoy the PNC show...but the Beacon is, well...The Beacon!

Hopefully, more shows will be added...perhaps will luck out then? Guess will have to just wait and see.

Can't make the Beacon shows but thought I'd share my "Metallica" ticket experience...

Trying to get 1 ticket for my nephew for the Garden (Boston) show. Over the last few days not once, ever, has a ticket popped up. One ticket!

Of course I could get him 1st row floor for $696 plus a reasonable $102 service charge.

And there's an option to buy ticket "insurance" for another $100 or so.

And yes, all of this is available on ticketbast*rds new scalping site.

Anyway, that's why I'm up this early. Hoping for day of show tickets to be released.

I Just can not believe it. On ticket master you can bid on all shows which supposedly
have no tickets available. 2 tixs for the price of 4. That is Crazy!

I had this same success in the presale as well, all center Loge.

I feel so very badly for everyone who wasn't able to score tickets in the general onsale. I can't express how much I appreciate the opportunity of the fan club presale, without it many many more of us wouldn't have tickets. While I didn't try for any tickets Friday I share the anger for what is happened.

a couple of thoughts here

1) with all of the above posts about attempts to obtain 3/21 tix - no wonder it sold out first. Btween the ABB pre-sale, the Amex presale & general on-sale, wouldn't any Saturday night show be the most desirable? Especially the last show of the run? (And be assured the scalpers all have Amex cards!)

2) re : T-M & TicketsNow. I can understand why T-M did this as they get to charge their fees on the same tickets twice! And I'm sure we've all noticed their sliding scale of fees - the more the face, the more the fee - even tho' they provide the same service. TicketsNow get their same profit, T-M gets to double dip and those who are desparate enough to pay those prices get gouged.

I consider myself lucky to get the balcony tix I wanted for shows 1, 2 & 3 during the pre-sale. I know my chances would have been greatly reduced for 3/19 - 3/21 or even 3/13 - 3/14.

Finally, Moogis seems to be a decent value compared to the TicketsNow prices!

With the economy the way it is right now, expect to see these tickets linger for a long time and eventually drop in price. The "stupid" money just isn't there right now, even in NY. I think if folks are patient then you should be able to score some deals as the date of the shows approach. Of course, if you give in to these inflated prices and pay them then don't complain because that only makes you part of the problem. Someone mentioned in another thread about the reaction to being shut out because "no one is entitled to a ticket, not even me". True, but I think you are at the very least entitled to a fair shot at a ticket, which I don't think people were. And there is something seriously wrong with that.

Everything you write is 100% true. The only thing one can do is vow not to make purchases on Tickets Now or Stub Hub. Also, we've been moving steadily toward younger bands where you can still get a $30-50 ticket for a great seat or standing in small club i.e. Umphrey's, DTB, Railroad Earth etc... For best values on some of our most beloved bands, the festivals still hold water i.e. Gathering of the Vibes. Either way, we have great loge for 3/13, I've been trying unsucessfully to get another set for 3/21 but have no problem seeing just 1 ABB show this year. Five years ago I could see multiple ABB Beacon shows for $60-70 in the 1st 10 rows. Five years later they want over $150 for the same seat and you can't even get 'em. For the hardcore, loyal fan, this is simply intolerable. There are too many other great bands to see for less money when I don't know if I'll even have a job in 6 months.

To the ABB, have a wonderful run, I'll see you on the 13th. I'll see Railroad Earth next Saturday for $30 in the 4th row too.

Great post Mule' ....it is irrelevant 'when' the TICKETMASTER folks went into the scalping business...the point is ...they ARE.

In addition, DOVETAIL has the balls to ask the real question. Seems highly unlikely that the "Artists'' and the ''Promoters"...and the "Site Owners (Beacon)" are not aware of the practice and one could only surmise that they ALL benefit. I have copy/pasted my post from the other thread....it is relevant. I do so only to reiterate my point...

________

Guys & gals....

I haven't read all 4 pages of posts--up to this moment--but have scanned several. I hate to pose a rather obvious question that NO one seems willing to address....but has it occured to anyone that perhaps this IS the deal the 'band' has negotiated??? I argue with myself in regards to 'capitalism' and the idea that this IS the 40th Anniversary and the 'band' should have a right to make all the money they can. Yet, I remember the 'battlecry' of years gone by about the "Band of the People". I think that has sadly become a myth.

Quite frankly, I am also upset with the 'gameplan' of selling the public on the idea of "Superstars'' attending .....Clapton, Scaggs, Franklin, BETTS?.....then 10 shows are listed. We've all rushed out and bought tix for the first 10 shows...NOW SOLD OUT!. Now sure as sh*ttn....there will be "Due to Demand--5 more shows ADDED!". Betcha Clapton comes to one of those shows and we who have made plans to travel to NYC from all over the country during the first 10 nites get stuck with the 'bass player from Mott the Hoople" as our 'special guest' on the 21st. I hope I'm wrong but I smell something funky and it ain't Aaron Neville. Then--WOW--we'll have to rush back to our homes and purchase the MOOGIS thing so we'll get to see "CLapton". What a GREAT marketing plan!!!

Nevertheless....I'm coming with a smile on my face to hear some good tunes albeit in the nosebleeds and most importantly hang out with my friends from all over the world. I'll cheer when the 'bass player from Mott the Hoople' is introduced and describe how 'great it was!". But if there' is a '41st year'.....I have a feeling I'm going to be a bit more choosy and remember how it 'used to be'.

Pardon me being a bit cynical....ironically, I'm in 'business' and I know how it works. I've also been accused before of being 'brutally honest'. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it....

The date is not the point. The point is that this is a way of increasing ticket prices LITERALLY 500%. Who cares what the date is? We are getting screwed.

Where's the government bail out for this? The fans need a bailout!

$715 per ticket? Does it include a beer valet, bathroom attendant, coat check room and other accolades of an upscale place or are people just paying for the new seats and renovation?

Literally 1.5 hours before showtime I was able to score a 7th row floor seat for my nephew. I imagine the encores are starting about now...

Face value, near his buddies who managed to get tix during the pre-sale. I'm pretty happy.

We should keep it to ourselves, day of show is the way to go

I find that Ticketmaster often releases tickets 2 weeks, one week and 2 days before concerts. I would never turn down tickets banking on this since it doesn't always happen but perseverence and OCD can be helpful. Five years ago I got my son a single ticket to see the Stones at MSG literally 2 minutes before they stopped selling tickets 5 hours before the concert. They must have recounted or something.
