When Lana posted the ABB anniversary thread, it made me wonder when the site's anniversary is? Would it be the date of the old site? New site?

Rowland is registered on 8/27/2001 which would seem like the birth here for me. It could be when the next person, Lana, registered because it takes two to have a community. That would be 9/10/2001.

Then it looks like Mike113 was the first non-administrator to register on 11/20/01.

That lead me to think of the old site and how slow some of us stubborn mules were to switch. I was afraid that all would be lost and I wouldn't find my friends again. I survived the process of pressing on the link and switching eventually. Nothing but good times since.

Would love to say that this was about saying Thank You to those responsible for providing all of this. But I am far too selfish for that.

My question is "What do others consider the anniversary of the site?"

And more important, where the hell is the party/jam happening?

Hey there sweet family,

CanadianMule, the anniversary of Hittin' the Web is April 30, 1995. So, we're almost 13 years old. I'm totally with you - when's the party??

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Thanks very much Lana. The start of the original site is official then. Works for me.

One great part is that April 30th is even sooner but that doesn't leave too much time or organize the party though.

Hi again sisters and brothers,

CanadianMule, I have to laugh (see -> ) when I think of the reluctance of some folks (your sweet self included) to make the change from the old HTW to this one. It was like telling little children the family is moving, "Noooooo! We don't want to go! We like it here!". So, parts of the old site were kept open, like a transition house, for quite a long time. Finally, we closed the doors on that site and welcomed everyone here - and all your friends were here too. Surprise!

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

I love it here. It would be great to have our own big party. Get a few bands together, or do something similar to the Campfire Jams at Wanee. I am sure many of us would come. Do some camping, music, grilling, etc. That would be a blast.

Those are the same thought snad memories that made me laugh last night. All those friendly hints to go register which caused wide-eyed shock among the computer challenged at the time.

Eventually like every bar that I have ever been to, you kicked us out and sent us here. I didn't move over till 1/17/2001. Two months behind schedule as usual. Thank God I am married or I would never get anywhere.

Parents and teachers always said that I seemed a little slow.

Yes my friends were still here and even better that many still are.

Sorry for being so slow.

My family did move a couple of times when I was young so you nail it with your description. But at least you let us bring our toys and a friend.

Hmm, Lana, what else happened on April 30?

Oh, and I was also one of the ones to drag my feet in coming over to the "new place", for some reason... I'm glad I found it eventually!

Hey there sweet family,

Ok, I admit it. We opened the doors to HTW on Sheyenne's birthday so it would be an easy date to remember. (blush).

Music, camping, grilling??? hmmm, our yard is kind of big ... and we have a ce-ment pond ... Yikes, see what happens when Rowland is out of town?? I go crazy!

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

True story:

During my first marriage, to Sheyenne's Dad, a radio station held a contest for a hot tub party. They'd bring a portable hot tub, food and beverages for 20 people, and a couple of DJs to your house, where they'd broadcast live, as a prize for the person who wrote the best "Why I want win this hot tub party" essay.

My essay was: "I want to win this hot tub party because it's always been my dream to party with a couple of strange men when my husband's not at home."

I won. Imagine his surprise when he did get home! Not a match made in heaven ... like Rowland and myself. Still going strong after almost 2 years! Whoo hoo!

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana
