I got to see Johnny Winter for the second time in 2 & 1/2 months last night, the day after his 63rd birthday. Let me tell you. In just that short time span his vocals are MUCH stronger than when I saw him in December. I think being on the road has been good therapy for him. I caught him and Coco Montoya at the first anual Sea Blues festival in Clearwater FL outside in BEAUTIFUL 65 degree weather. I love Florida when there isn't any hurricanes!!! It was the first time I had seen Coco in 12 years. He was with Mayall the last time. Coco was hot,and his band is SMOKIN'.The only complaint I had was that Johhny and the band were just a little too loud. I didn't find any news reviews of the show yet,but if I do I will post it later.I sure envy those that are going to See Johnny.Edgar, and Rick Derringer!

Sounds like it was a great time. Good for Winter ! I'm stuck on the idea of flying down to see Betts play at Vinoy Parkin St Pete. I left Fla 15 years ago .. I'm way overdue for a homecoming.

Well Coco is going to be in town next weekend, love his CDs but haven't ever seem him play live yet, guess I'm going to "remedy" that. Good review on both Johnny and Coco.

The great Johnny Winter reviews just keep coming and that's cool. He seems to be on and endless tour that might last until he can't do it anymore. Anyone who can should catch him.

Coco Montoya is a great player from here in the Bay area, he plays clubs around here quite frequently and is at The Santa Cruz Blues Festival nearly every year. I don't know if you noticed, Coco of course plays his Stat left-handed but did NOT re-string, so he is playing the guitar completely upside-down from the conventional way, with the high notes on top. He's either hit or miss live; I've seen him when he's kind of average, but when he's on fire, he's right there with the best of them.

I saw Coco play at the Simi Valley Blues Festival last year. He was good. As previously posted, he plays his guitar like Dick Dale with the high strings on top. He's scheduled to play again this year on 4/28 along with BB Chung King and The Delgado Brothers.

I'm glad to hear the good reviews. I've never seen either live, but that changes tonight. Goin' to see them in Cocoa Beach at a small club. Lookin' forward to it.

That was the problem,distortion.
If the over all level had been turned down,it would have been MUCH better.
I'm suprised it is so loud since Johnny's voice is so much lower these days

The one thing I did notice about Coco,he's put on about 50 or so lbs since I last saw him!
He was really on last night. The weather was beautiful, and he said more than a couple of times EVERYONE had been very nice concerning the promoters and staff. So he was in a great mood. That always helps!

Well we just got back from the show and while Coco wasn't there, Johnny put on one heck of a show. He looks frail, but he's playing is just as good as it ever was. Johnny can play guitar and a mean slide. His voice was strong and sounded good as well. We enjoyed it. My 15 year old was able to meet him breifly after the show. What a blast. Still alive and well. Check him out, well worth the price of admission.

Also, the roadie liked my son's Jam for Duane T-shirt.

All of the bands were very good. The weather was perfect. And we even had a shade tree to sit under in the afternnon. It was almost a perfect day.My only complaint is Johnnie's set was way to short
