Thread: Major Provocation to Iran

While I usually support Trump and his policies, on this one I think he is provoking Iran in a MAJOR, dangerous way.

https://thehill.com/policy/defense/429471-trump-tweets-in-persian-to-send-m essage-to-iran-on-revolutions-anniversary

He tweeted in PERSIAN no less, on the anniversary of the revolution that transformed Iran into an Islamic Republic after the Shah was overthrown. and Bolton joined in too.

“After 40 years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has failed to fulfill its promises to uphold and safeguard the rights of its citizens. The 40th anniversary of the Iranian regime only serves to highlight four decades of failure and broken promises,” Bolton tweeted.

“It’s been 40 yrs of failure,” he added in a second tweet. “Now it’s up to the Iranian regime to change its behavior, & ultimately up to the Iranian people to determine the direction of their country. The U.S. will support the will of the Iranian people, & stand behind them to ensure their voices are heard.”

REMARKS: I hope the US does not have the idea of "liberating" the Iranian people the way we liberated Viet Nam or Iraq. Muslims do not want secular law. They may not want the strictness that is in place right now in Iran but they do not want a country similar in culture, behaviors like the U.S. These remarks on the anniversary of the ousting of the Shah are provacative to say the least.
