Thread: NYT "Big" story

OriginalGoober - 9/5/2018 at 11:37 PM

Listening to MSNBC right now get so giddy over an anonymous editorial. Could it be one of the Dear John James Comey letters that he sent to himself on President Trump but never did the same for any other President or even after meeting with Crooked Hillary?

As sung to the Presley classic:

I gave a letter to Comey
He put it in his sack
Bright in early next morning
He brought my letter back

The American People, wrote upon it
Return to sender, motive unknown
No such Putin, no such collusion

We had a recusal, a dishonorable act
The American people stamp No Hillary and my letter keeps coming back

So then I dropped it in the NYT mailbox
And sent it special D (emocrat)
Bright in early next morning
It came right back to me

Journalistic Integrity wrote upon it
Return to sender, source unknown
No such person, your in the fiction zone

This time I'm gonna take it myself
And put it right in CNN feed
And if it comes back the very next day
Then I'll target something to blame

Return to Liberals, facts unknown
No such story, your in the PC zone

Return to Liberals
Return to Liberals
Return to Liberals
Return to Liberals

You should bag MSNBC and flip to FOX. State run TV is much more aligned with your thinking and accepting of the fifth or sixth grade intellect of Honest Don as described by our Secretary Of Defense, James Mattis.

Muleman1994 - 9/6/2018 at 01:00 AM

It is truly funny to watch the far-lefties all in a lather over an anonymous opinion piece that anyone who knows how the corrupt liberal media works can easily see that it is crap.

Suckers.

BrerRabbit - 9/6/2018 at 01:00 AM

Nice rework of Return to Sender, Goob! Not bad at all. "Unknown" and "collusion" was stretchin it for a rhyme tho. Hahaa, I grew up on Mad Magazine too.

Here's one : To the tune of "You're So Vain"

You're No Brain

You lurched into the White House
Like you were staggering drunk on a yacht
Your brain strategically placed inside your rear
Your face and hair it was apricot
You had ol' "One-Eye" in the media
As we watched you self-garrote

And all the rubes dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner and

You're no brain
So you can't think this song is about you
You're no brain (no braaiin!)
You can't think this song is about you

While I won’t go this far........

Anonymous sources do have a lot of value and credibility, we are getting into books of it. I have to say, GULP, that I agree with muleman1994. It’s time to get on the record.

BrerRabbit - 9/6/2018 at 02:48 AM

True. It is wait and see time. Right now a lot of these folks see the blade comin and probably want to get on record to cover their asses so they don't go down with the ship. So at least some of this smoke is from real fire. There was a lot of this rumor and cloak and dagger in the late 60s, early 70s, it all comes out eventually.

Anyone with a grain of common sense can see that the POTUS is off his rocker.

sckeys - 9/6/2018 at 03:03 AM

It’s easy to see that it has rattled the WH and Trump jumps right in to discredit of course. There does seem to be fire there.

BrerRabbit - 9/6/2018 at 03:44 AM

I feel sorry and a lot of respect for anyone in that situation who is scrambling to catch up and do damage control, keep the president from blowing the whole country apart. They would be crucified if they exposed their identities right now. Going on record anonymously is good insurance, to be able to later say, "Look, don't blame me, I was the person who said such and such and did this or that to save the country from disaster." For all we know there are real heroes at work right now, overtime vigilant getting us through and protecting us against things really going south. WAY south, like say, nuclear war south, forget the small stuff. Woodward is a trustworthy guy, he won't reveal a source until they want to be, and they know it. So his effort was probably a relief for folks who needed a safe way to archive their stories with a reliable witness. We down here on the bottom of media looneyland have no way of really knowing how bad things really are, doesn't matter where you get your info - but we can feel the rumbling. If Trump behaves in the situation room the way he tweets or talks in public, then we have a real problem. This is weirder than Dr. Strangelove.

Wait and see time.

A writing analysis of the “anonymous” opinion piece shows that the document was written by two different individuals.

The NYT lost all credibility a long time ago.

Still can't come up with an original thought?
Pitiful and common.

BrerRabbit - 9/6/2018 at 05:43 PM

The president's idiotic reactions only serve to verify the claims in the op-ed piece. Even if the op-ed is total bs trolling by the NYT it served its purpose in drawing Trump to the mousetrap and shows us he is an ignoramus insane reactionary, as if any half-conscious person wasn't already aware of it.

Any president with an adult mind would laugh and ignore stuff like this.

Goober's humorous and witty satire of "Return to Sender" shows a lot more class and brains than the White House reaction. If they just shrugged it off and smacked it down with a clever retort like this and moved on, they would be respected.

What a pack of clowns - going ballistic over every little thing.

And the far-left extremists actually believe the fake news; so easily played.
Suckers.

BrerRabbit - 9/6/2018 at 06:15 PM

The left doesn't give a crap - this is not news. They already know the POTUS and his core base types like you are totally whacked out.

The White House got played like a fiddle, by paying any mind to an op-ed that would have faded away in two days if ignored.

Yet the far-left extremists cant stop talking about it.
Worse, those morons actually believe it.

Wonder if Trump's hit on her yet. Seems if they walk & wear a skirt, that's fair game for Trump. Even the way Trump's talked about Ivanka is way creepy, but that's who he is...fact. Calling Billy Bush.

MartinD28 - 9/6/2018 at 11:32 PM

Below are quotes from GOP Senator, Ben Sasse validating accuracy of the NY Times Op Ed and referred to Trump's leaderrship as running the country as a soap opera. Hey...he's a Republican but not a sheep for Trump.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------

Senator Ben Sasse said on Thursday that the account of a White House “resistance” effort published in an anonymous New York Times op-ed was “troubling but not unsurprising.”

“It’s just so similar to what so many of us hear from senior people around the White House, you know, three times a week,” the Nebraska Republican said during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewit.

Mr. Sasse explained that about two-thirds of the senior officials express the same views as the one expressed in the controversial op-ed, but said it was “unhelpful” to publish them anonymously.

The New York Times published an anonymous op-ed from a mysterious senior administration official on Wednesday, sparking a surge of anxiety and rumors about who the author might be.

The writer described a chaotic White House under Mr. Trump’s tenure, and acts taken by officials embedded into the administration to undermine some of the president’s actions that are “detrimental to the health of our republic.”

“I don’t understand the morality of why anyone would write the piece, because it seems pretty obvious to me that what it’s going to do is foster more paranoia,” he said.

However, Mr. Sasse said it is clear the White House “doesn’t work together well” and denounced the constant infighting within the topmost ranks in the Trump administration.

The Republican senator said any call to invoke the 25th amendment should have been made public because it will distract the public and the administration from improving. Instead, it made the president focus on “running around doing an interrogation of everybody.”

Mr. Sasse said the constant “drama” coming out of the White House including everything from the scandalous accusations made in new books and the sensational Cohen and Manafort cases “exhausts” the public.

“And I know that the founders would regard anything like this as you know, really unhelpful. You don’t run the country as a soap opera,” he said.

That evangelical crowd would love to see pence in there. They know he couldn’t have won himself.

MartinD28 - 9/7/2018 at 12:10 PM

Just like GOP Senator Ben Sasse stated, fellow GOP Senator, Bob Corker agrees that the OP Ed is no surprise as he has heard the concern from WH insiders. See quotes below. Congress knows it, but most of the GOP are along for the ride until they get voted out of office. They are enablers at the time the country needs the legislative branch to stand up to the lunatic in chief.

https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2018/09/06/trump-op-ed-alleg ations-no-surprise-senator-bob-corker/1212684002/

“I am not a fan of anonymous op-eds, but I don’t think those of us who have worked closely with people in the White House are surprised by the content," Corker, a Republican who shares long-running beef with Trump, said in a statement Thursday.

Later that afternoon, amid the search within the White House for the anonymous op-ed author, Corker told CNN he believed any number of staffers could have written it.

"I think the biggest issue they’re going to have is figuring out who wouldn’t have written a letter like that," Corker said.

In the piece, titled "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration," the anonymous author wrote that many of Trump's senior officials are "working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations" on issues ranging from free trade to military policy.

Corker's statement this week echoed similar comments he made in the last year, such as when he said Trump's threats toward other countries could set the U.S. “on the path to World War III," or called the White House an "adult day care center."

In October, while noting that he believed Trump was "devolving" as president, Corker said Trump officials had reached out to him asking that he stand up to Trump.

"I’ve had multiple occasions where the staff has asked me to intervene, (Trump) was getting ready to do something that was really off the tracks," Corker said at the time.

You picked two Republicans that even the Republicans ignore.

Senators Ben Sasse and Bob Corker.
One RINO and one on his way out the door.
