Cannabition, touted as the world’s only cannabis-themed experience of its kind to date, unveiled a most-fitting, first exhibit on Wednesday, August 8. Legendary gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson’s personal 1973 Chevrolet Caprice convertible has landed in downtown Las Vegas ahead of the cannabis museum’s opening later this month.

Donated by Thompson’s widow Anita Thompson, the vehicle has been parked at Owl Farm—the Woody Creek, Colo. compound where the the literary icon lived from 1969 until his death in 2005. In attendance for photographs and to meet fans, she talked via email exclusively with ForbesLife about why she decided to share the “Red Shark” with the world.

“I continue Hunter’s work by bringing awareness of marijuana laws that target minorities and destroy families all over this country for possession of this plant. The ‘Red Shark’ is a symbol of our journey together as active citizens to stop putting responsible smokers in jail. Cannabition is also doing this work in a way that is fun and informative for guests,” she says.
