Thread: DeNiro curses Trump, Trump supporters take bait

BoytonBrother - 6/11/2018 at 01:36 PM

“This is exactly why Trump won”, says every Trump supporter in unison, after learning DeNiro cursed out the President on stage at the Tony’s. One man in a red MAGA hat states, “People wonder why we voted for Trump. Well, people like DeNiro are the reason. Liberals want to condemn us for our beliefs so this is how we fight back!” When asked why his vote wasn’t about policy that will benefit the country, he replied, “Huh? Whaddya mean?”

StratDal - 6/11/2018 at 03:03 PM

Using profanity when speaking publicly regardless of who or the issue is classless, unprofessional, and immature.

Agreed. I can’t believe the right elected one of these types for President.

I'm really curious, what policies are the left promoting that will help the country? Not help the elites or the well-connected, like they usually do. Something that helps the middle class that many of you folks claim to be concerned about. Maybe more trade agreements that give away our industries and jobs? How about higher taxes and more regulations that strangle business and new start-ups?

If DeNiro was a serious man, he'd run for office and try to change the things he's concerned about. As it stands, he's just a meaningless flame-thrower. Any idiot can be that.

Theres an old saying:

Great to hear from you! This is getting off topic though. Conservatives claim they voted for Trump because of insults from the left - thoughts?

Where is your sense of personal accountability? How did the millions of growing businesses manage during the Obama administration? start ups thrived during the Obama administration. I guess you’ll credit Shark Tank for that? Sounds like you want to blame government if a business can’t succeed, and to that I say, go talk to the millions of businesses that did just fine under Obama.

As expected, you represent a fictitious Trump voter as not knowing about policy, but have no response to questions about what policy that would actually align with your goals and be good for people. As to the flame thrower remark; I'm not a Hollywood liberal making a fool of himself wasting a live TV moment dropping an F-bomb on the President. Nice try smearing me with the same brush.

Yeah, gun control has really worked well in Chicago - just ask the over 200 people already shot this year. With 300+ million guns in the country, banning any type is a waste of time. Real common sense would be installing metal detectors, limiting entrances, and having a potential armed response. Its worked for the airlines. Are our kids less important than airline passengers?

The last administration had the worst recovery ever, primarily because they wanted to micromanage it. Obamacare put a freeze on hiring and growth for many. 2% (or less) GDP growth is not sufficient for the country to prosper. Maybe you like leaders who kept telling us that that the jobs would never come back, and this was the "new normal", but thankfully a lot of people got fed up with that nonsense.

Not fictitious at all. I hear this constantly from the Trump supporters I know personally. Care to address the thread topic or no?

There are several members of this site that acknowledge the insults from the left drove Trump’s victor. Care to discuss?

Average increase in GDP during Obama's second term - 2.2%
Average increase in GDP during Trump's first year - 2.3%

Is this increase in 0.1% really something to get excited about?

I remember when you and all the other "conservatives" used to be concerned about deficits and new debt. Funny how that never comes up anymore.

The GOP in Congress has rolled over in fears of Trump. All sense of traditional conservative values are a thing of the past as it's all about power and attempting to retain power. Ryan and McConnell are nothing more than invertebrates; no sense of self respect. Only McCain, Sasse, and a a few congressmen not running again have stepped up to call out Trump.

It's ironic to see the Republican criticisms launched at Obama over the years re: foreign policy and our allies. Where are they when Russian Don is picking fights with the G6 allies and won't express criticism of Trump who has all but blown Putin and has now called the North Korean dictator / murderer an honorable man?

I give you an F. The Tony awards are in New York, and while there is some crossover it isn't a Hollywood event.

Lack of knowledge doesn't stop you from talking. Keep up the good work.

Thin skinned, immature, diminished human beings. I think this is just cover for why most people voted for Trump, a white male spouting discriminatory ideals and clamoring for “the good ol’ days”, not hard to put two and two together there.

Funny comment about liberals wanting to only help the elites and well connected... what exactly has Chester Cheetah done to help the working class? Lots of empty promises from an empty man looking to further his own interests.

BoytonBrother - 6/12/2018 at 12:53 PM

Notice how they post and bail, evading any legitimate dissection of their comments. Once exposed, poof, they’re gone.

It’s routinely said around here and among many Trump supporters, that the lefts’s insults were the reason they voted for Trump, putting policy and country second. I guess I wouldn’t try to explain that either.

This missed the mark IMO. Where’s the hook? I don’t see anyone being interested in discussing Broadway performers or wealthy actors in Hollywood. The story is the response from conservatives all over the media yesterday saying, “This is EXACTLY why Trump won.” Huh? Care to explain? Probably not.

Well, I don't care what Robert DeNiro says or does. I don't care what Ted Nugent says, or somebody named Samatha B or Ann Coulter. The thoughts and actions of those people are inconsequential to me.

I was embarrassed however by what the President and some of his advisors said following the G7, it was hardly the first time and I doubt it will be the last.

While I cringe at some of the methods and language this President is using towards our traditional allies and mutual trading partners, this issue on trade needs reevaluated and reworked.

Canada does not pose a national security threat in the traditional sense. But importing 90% of our aluminum, being reduced from 1993's 23 aluminum producers in the US to 5 today and threatening extinction of another entire domestic industry that the US military relies upon is a national security issue. Canada's aluminum exports to the US are a big deal for them, and I would expect them to fight hard to preserve those sales. Everyone should protect their own, it's well past time for the US to do some protecting here for a variety of issues, and in some cases national security concerns, which having a sustainable manufacturing sector producing necessary raw materials for our needs is valid.

If I were to meet Prime Minister Trudeau today I would personally apologize to him for the words, but not the policy position.

The aluminum imports are not in any way Canada’s fault or something that needs to be addressed. All countries depend on each other for their mutual defense. To say that it is a national security risk because we import it from Canada is short sighted. Canada is our ally, or it was until the other day. Their is no country that is all that self sufficient that they can provide 100% of their defense. Western Europe imports almost all of its oil, but somehow they manage. BTW, do you know that we have a trade surplus of about $8 billion with Canada?

If we are going to attack our proven allies and align with autocratic leaders who only serve their own self interests, trade will be the least of our problems.

Hillary's deplorables comment may have cost here the election. Comments that people who lened conservatively are "misguided" were all over the web. I remember telling someone on line here that there is a whole country out there that cares more about their guns than their daughter's rights to get an abortion. They responded that they needed to be educated.

So yeah; denigrating people makes them act a certain way. Look at Kathy Griffin. Imagine the outcry if someone had a severed Obama head?

And honestly; last election I pulled a Buddhist passive aggressive stance. I went into the booth and made a conscious effort to pull neither lever. I found both candidates "deplorable"

I would agree with this, regardless of who is sitting in the White House. DeNiro just lowered himself to the level of someone he despises. Last time I checked, he was an actor, no different than a plumber or a physician.

Yes, but the left wouldn’t want Bill Maher or Kathy Griffin to run the country - that’s the difference.

Many differing opinions. You have yours, I have mine. No it is not Canada's fault that they can gain an advantage under current trade law. Independence and self reliance is a worthy goal, especially when it comes to military supply chains and readiness. Again, you have your opinion, and that of others may differ. The trade numbers vary depending what you are looknig at. To reiterate, I personally would give preferencial treatment to Canada, but that does not mean that I would favor their exporters at the expense or our industrial base. Canada is a great friend and I hope for continued good will between our countries. Friends have disagreements, and again, I take exception to the language this administration is using, not the policy. Your milage may vary. Who is right? Who is wrong? There is no telling. I am glad the conversation is being had.

If everybody was armed there would be conflicts and shootings for a little while, then the crooks and criminals would realize if they start their nonsense, they will most likely be shot, and crime would decrease. They do not get their guns legally, so telling law abiding people to not have a gun does not stop the crimes it just stops their ability to fight back when they are accosted.
