Cool link. Back in the mid to late 70s, I played a lot of BBall in the Orange Cty area. I was a "Gym Rat" and loved the game. 6'-3..3/8" 205 in my playing days and with a year of JC ball under my belt, I had swagger. There were three of us who played together n the Laguna Beach BB tourney every year, right on the sand, They had two courts (designated Blue and the other Orange, by the duct tape of said color placed at exactly 6'-3" above the tarmac on the support pole for the backboard) each net facing the same way so you could not play Full Court ball, making it a perfect place for Tournaments. 6'-3" and under and unlimited. So most years because we were all "smaller" we would play in the "under" category where we would win 3-4 games, move into the top 6 or so, lose and continue on in the "Loser's bracket"..So anyway because this one year I am playing with some "Bigger Friends" and my ankles are taped making look at least 6-6, we end up in a semi-final game in the "un-limited" division...I looked over and my team mate Jerry says... "Vince!.....you got Nater" "Wtf" I am thinking and I turn around and it is go time, "Swen" he says with his outstretched hand.. I shake it and tell him my name....We lost of course, but Swen told me later that I played him tough....Haha!. with one elbow he might have removed my jaw....

Great stuff, & would like to read that book on the Pacers, they had it all going w/Reggie, Rik Smits, Mark Jackson, Dale Davis, Antonio Davis, the coach Larry Brown & that era, into when Travis Best/Al Harrington/Jermaine O'Neal/Jonathan Bender & later players came along

Billy Knight! Gosh I'd forgotten about him -- played briefly for the Celts & the "woebegone" Sidney Wicks/Curtis Rowe/Robert McAdoo teams owned by John Y Brown etc etc -- great ABA reunion pics, ML Carr was one of the best on our great early-80s teams

& the Doctor -- they recently unveiled a statue of him in Philly (last week) -- recently??? -- doesn't make sense, he's one of the greatest Sixiz of them all & another hugely-pleased alum currently -- he made more than a few house calls at the Gahdn, that's for sur

I have seen the documentary about Roger Brown that is linked in the earlier post. The production quality is low because it was made by the local PBS station in Indianapolis, but it is totally worth watching. It's a great show about a great player who got totally screwed by the NBA. Anyone with a slight interest in basketball should watch it.

Yeah, it is VERY good. Due to it being a local PBS production like you said, the quality is some what lacking, but that takes nothing away from the story
