I knew about the Chicago Theatre run nine months ago but I wasn't going to post anything about it until it became official. They were playing two nights. One was An Evening With and the other had an opener. This year JJ Grey and Mofro opened. Last year it was Leon Russell right before he passed away. That was cool because they did a bunch of Joe Cocker stuff. Even brought out Leon's grand piano to play a few songs with TTB.

I don't think I would pay to go to NY to see them like I always did for The ABB but I am glad they are playing in my backyard in Chicago.

For those who have never been to both, The Chicago Theatre is just as beautiful (if not more so) than The Beacon.

Well worth the trip if you want to brave a Chicago winter!

Great news. Attending a show at either of these venues is on my concert bucket list

I'm going to do Chicago. Doing the Beacon in September interferes with my college football games.

Lee - remember how cheap we used to be able to do the Beacon 13-14 years ago? $59 + fees for first row balcony (above Loge), $175 2-bedroom suite at the Hotel Beacon we'd put 4 people in, shop across the street at Fairway on Thursday arrival....I could do a 3.5 day weekend and catch 2 or 3 shows for $750! And few hundred of us ABB fanatics who connected here and from the Listserv would pile in for the weekend. We had some grand times!

I'm hoping to make it there for TTB next year (Layla done by ABB/Clapton was the last song I heard in the Beacon 9+ years ago). And hoping that TTB turns the Fox in Atlanta into 2 nights. We do the Fox / Georgian Terrace combo up pretty dang good!

Yeah Tim, I think we all had a blast. It was so much fun to walk up and down Broadway and see all the familiar faces. The Bear Bar, that dive diner across the street, walking to Strawberry Fields with Johnny and Brofan. And after 9/11 you could actually afford to stay at The Beacon Hotel.

Seeing all the after show gigs. Even getting gouged like hell at B.B. King's. Derek Trucks Band in The Village for like 20 bucks.

Almost getting arrested. Aah, memories...

Sounds great. I've never seen TTB in a larger setting (not that the Beacon is big), but the article mentions elaborate stage sets. I can't really see that for TTB. Do they use them?
