Thread: Indiegogo crowdfund Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar

jmacs - 4/12/2018 at 11:37 AM

I've been playing guitar most of my life now, and know for a fact that the original Allman Brothers were mentors and teachers in showing me how to play, to make every note count, to take the song for a journey, to listen, really listen to the other folks in the band, and respond.... if you play guitar and are reading these words here, I'd say you know exactly what I mean.

It's very exciting for me to have the guitar I made out of love and respect for the Allman Brothers Band go on this journey to the very heart of their music- their Big House Museum. I hope you'll visit Indiegogo through the provided link or by going to the Indiegogo site and searching "Eat a Peach" to learn about this story and see the cool perks offered to those who contribute. The crowdfund ends April 29th! https://igg.me/at/eatapeach

Tell me, were you one of those guys lifting the needle over and over again on that spinning pink and black Capricorn album, trying to get the notes?

I'll be posting some of the cool perks offered for contributing to the crowdfund to gift the Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar to the ABB's Big House Museum. Here are the t-shirts designed by the awesome Peter "Psychodelik Pete" Nogas who is also a big fan of the Allman Brothers and a regular at GABBAfest in Macon where I will present the guitar to the museum. News from Maine- The crowdfund to gift the Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar to the ABB's Big House Museum is still up and running for 2 more weeks. I wish I could meet you all to show the guitar. Crafting it really was a labor of love that I'm very proud of.
Here are words of support from the Big House's Richard Brent- "I have played this guitar and I am here to tell you that it plays and sounds every bit as good as it looks! We would be honored to have this at The Big House Museum for fans from all over to play and enjoy."

Please visit the campaign page and check out all the cool perks for contributing. There are still 7 bottles left of my own homemade maple syrup tapped from the big maples over on the shore of Unity Pond... https://igg.me/at/eatapeach

Dorothy and I saw the first show of the Devon Allman/Duane Betts tour last night at the Kate in Old Saybrook CT and these guys are hot stuff! Devon is a real showman, getting his emotions out on the guitar and bringing you right along with him. Check them out if you can!

The crowdfund is going on for another twelve days and I invite you to take a minute to check out the Indiegogo campaign page here- https://igg.me/at/eatapeach

There are TWO Big House Museum memberships still available for a $100 contribution. These were generously given by Richard Brent, the Director at the Big House. Here's a message from him-

"I have played this guitar and I am here to tell you that it plays and sounds every bit as good as it looks! We would be honored to have this at The Big House Museum for fans from all over to play and enjoy."

Just back from the NY Guitar Show where the Eat a Peach Guitar was displayed and played. Who would have thought that I'd meet the two drummers from the ABB Tribute Band Mountain Jam Orchestra at a guitar show? Thanks for stopping by John and Steven! I checked out their website and they are real deal good. Here's some pics from the show including the fun afterhours jam at a local bar. I'm on the left playing my Tribute to West 48th Street guitar, with bassmaker Leslie McCurdy playing one of his own. In the last image, Telecaster ace Arlen Roth checks out my Mumbletypeg tele and had fun taking it for a spin.

Thanks to the folks who contributed to the campaign at the show and got t-shirts by Psychodelik Pete! I have around 10 of these left.

The crowdfund is still running and you can check it out here- https://igg.me/at/eatapeach Thanks!

April is just about over and half of it was spent on the road showing my work at guitar shows in CT, PA, and NY. I enjoyed meeting a lot of folks and showing the Eat a Peach guitar. The crowdfund continues and ends on May 20th. Hope you can check it out! https://igg.me/at/eatapeach

Here's one of the perks for the campaign, a poster that perfectly captures the guitar and the surreal ride of the Eat a Peach album created by Macon's own Michael Pierce-

There are 12 days left in the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to gift the Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar to the Allman Brothers' Big House Museum. It's really an exciting project that has had some very cool unexpected consequences and we're not all the way to the end yet.

I'm much better at making guitars than I am in talking myself up, so I'll share with you some of the words of support that have come in-

Richard Brent, Director of the Big House Museum-
" I have played this guitar and I am here to tell you that it plays and sounds every bit as good as it looks! We would be honored to have this at The Big House Museum for fans from all over to play and enjoy."

Sandy Blue Sky-
" I support this fundraiser to get the Eat a Peach tribute guitar to the Allman Brothers Museum. The Big House is where the ABB rehearsed "Blue Sky" and it was there during the rehearsals that I spoke with Duane in the kitchen for the last time. Thank you Jim Macdonald for all the years and patience for creating this beautiful guitar and tribute to the ABB and EAT A PEACH!!!"

Silas Kopf, this country's leading marquetry artist and author of "A Marquetry Odyssey: Historical Objects and Personal Work"-

"Do you like the Allman Brothers?
Do you like marquetry?
My friend Jim Macdonald likes both. He makes guitars and he plays guitars. And is a marquetry master. He has put these two loves together and made a one-of-a-kind instrument that he would like to see go to Macon, Georgia, the home of the Allman Brothers.
Today I put on my Best of the Allman Brothers album, cranked up the volume, and when I got home I made a pledge to the crowd-sourcing effort.
Perhaps you'll think about joining me?"

Please take a moment to check out the campaign and its cool perks here on Indiegogo- https://igg.me/att/eatapeach

Ten things to know- the Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar Crowdfund

1. I made the Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar(the entire instrument) out of love and respect for the music of the Allman Brothers.
2, I hand cut the wood veneer marquetry design which is from the inside cover art of the epic Eat a Peach album designed by Wonder Graphics.
3. The Allman Brothers profoundly influenced my playing and whole approach to making music
4. The Eat a Peach Tribute Guitar has mojo!
5. The Big House Museum has given the green light to have this special instrument join their cool collection.
6. Your name will go on the plaque that goes with the guitar to the museum when you contribute
7. The money raised purchases the guitar which will fund the building of my next batch of guitars and provide a
trip for two to Macon to present the guitar to the Museum in a meaningful way.
8. There are some very cool perks you can get when you contribute- starting at $10! Below is the Michael Pierce designed poster perk...
9. The campaign ends on May 20th, not so far away!
10. It all happens here on Indiegogo, please check it out and join in!
