As a few of you know, a few bands pulled me out of my self-imposed retirement from playing out live. One of these acts is an old and dear friend Jasen Colson. A real talented guy who convinced this old guy to teach the kids some tricks.
We got an opportunity to be a part of a video project. Various groups brought together in different locations to shoot a video for each act. A community of musicians where you are both the performer and the audience. Real unique experience and a lot of fun.
So I cut off two feet of hair and Jasen calls to say that we will be shooting this video. I felt like Sammy Hager who cut off his hair just before VH asked him to join.
Jasen's music is all over the map and covers many styles and influences. I like playing with him as he takes me out of my classic rock/blues one.
This one has more of a nod to progressive rock and begins with a duo piano prelude. Different style than some here like but thought some of you might like to see. Who can resist a little Canadianmule on guitar?
Turning Goodbye Into Hello

This one is more in the style of this site's tastes. For those with Spotify - Enjoy
Hard Love Livin'

I don't have Spotify but I watched the first one James. Interesting stuff. Different, and there's much to be said for that. Very original.

You should have let me know about your hair issue. I could have sent you one of my ultra cool mullet wigs!!!

LOL - Next time Scott! The trouble is once you cut all the long hair, it seems to have left all these grey ones behind.
Thanks for the comments, guys. I was getting worried that I had insulted the very core of the forum or something. LOL
Definitely different and original, Rob. Every song that Jasen writes sounds completely unlike the other songs. I met him long ago when he was a teen. When he put music one, his choice was a half hour Genesis tune. While others his age were destroying their eardrums with rap. He loved old and different.
This tune is really three different songs. The opening piano part is two separate intros to other songs added together before Turning Goodbye Into Hello. For those that can't survive the piano opening - the band kicks in around 2:50 or so.
Love hearing what people think.
Hear is another song. Shot by my wife on her upside down IPad just to make sure that she gets her favorite table in the shot. Not the greatest quality but you get the idea. Some have seen this from the other thread a few months ago but here it is again. Jasen is rambling at the begin ...tune kicks in at the 1:10 mark.
She is Oh So

Real nice bro -- the piano playing in the top one -- & the band rocking She Is Oh So -- like it real well!!

To "She Is Oh So", I say, "Oh Yeah"!!
Very upbeat, happy and catchy tune, I loved it! Nice of the wife to zoom in on you for your solo. And your solo was VERY nice. Seriously James, I REALLY dug this tune. The other one I thought stood out mainly for it's originality.
Very hard work week for me, put in 53 hours. I'm going to make up for it tonight though: James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt at the most beautiful ballpark in the world, the Giant's AT&T Park in San Francisco. Local paper had an interview with Taylor two days ago; he says he will sing with Bonnie during her set and she will come out with him during his set. Now how can this not be good??

Shame that you can't hear Hard Love Livin' , Rob. It is a blues type based number. Many people that I know have really liked it - from my blues buddies to the hard rock guys - it seems to appeal to all.
I don't have any other way of sharing that one for free. Will get a video or something in the future and share.
For those with Spotify, Jasen's first album is up there (I play on 4 or 5 tunes) and also our latest released singles are there too. The album is quite an adventure in styles with plenty of great musician helping out. You go from prog to blues to folk to fusion and then mix them all together for some tunes.
Here is another tune from a show. Unfortunately this camera didn't get enough piano in the mix. Mellow tune and it is a shame as Carolina plays a great solo at the end but hard to hear it clearly on here.
