Thread: Hep C concert

erniemed - 7/26/2017 at 11:02 PM

Hi everyone. I almost never post but I was wondering if someone knew if I could get a copy of The Allmans' Hep C concert at the Beacon on July 27, 2011. My Wife and I were at the show and were really moved by the performances. Thanks for any help anyone might be able to offer.
I also want to say how sorry I am for all of us, especially Gregg's Family, at this time of his passing. The Allmans have been a part of my life since 1971. My friends had a ticket for me for the March 13 midnight show of the historic Fillmore East stand, but I was unable to go. So they brought me home the Fillmore program from that night's show, and it is still one of my most cherished items.
God bless you Gregg. Thank You for incredible music, many great shows and the gift of having you in our lives all these years. We love you.

That was a special show! There are still a few clips of some tunes on youtube.
Several folks have it in the Tape Trading section, you might see if any of them are still active.

I was at that show and had a great time, I remember seeing cameramen on the stage during the show, always hoped it would be released officially.

It was a fantastic show. I thought Natalie Cole's contribution to Whippin' Post with the Allmans was a really good fit.

This was unique for sure. A couple of times I've forgotten about it completely while trying to keep track of all my ABB shows because a Beacon show in July seemed so weird. The second half starts with a CSN performance featuring Derek and then Warren, and then the rest of that set is CSN and Dead covers until Whipping Post, which has a rare guest spot. They never performed the CSN songs any other time, only played Shakedown Street two other times (both in 2011), and this was their fourth and last Change Is Gonna Come. Tons of other guests on top of those ones, and the Midnight Rider encore was rare, too. Here's the setlist:

Don't Want You No More > It's Not My Cross to Bear
I Walk on Gilded Splinters
One Way Out
Into the Mystic
Statesboro Blues
Blind Willie McTell
Black Hearted Woman+
A Change Is Gonna Come*
The Weight*

1 w/Derek Trucks (guitar)
2 w/Warren Haynes (vocals)

Franklin's Tower%

Will the Circle Be Unbroken~

That was a really nice summary of that show you just posted. I'm glad you appreciated it as much as I did. Any Allmans show was great to be at but this one had such a "rare" feel to it and when you consider the guests and setlist, you realize how special it was. It was definitely weird to be at the Beacon in July, but my Wife and I are so glad we went. I know you are too. Always enjoy your posts.
Take care,
