Eatin' A Peach @ Darien Lake
Well, it was a long drive (from the cottage - home 3 hrs and another two to Buffalo, with an hour plus wait at the border), but worth it!
This was a watershed show for me in that I am continuing the love for the Bros. be taking my 12 year old son to his first show!
It was fascinating to hear his commentary and answer the questions he had on just about everything.
Didn't catch the Ratdog show as we were trying to get there and arrived right at the end of it.
The Bros. took the stage at around 915 opening with Revival, which was a great way to get the crowd whirling into a frenzy. Highlights for me were The Sky is Crying (Warren hit it perfectly vocally and the guitar play between him and Derek brought me back to night two at Rama), Come and Go Blues (a personal live fav) and Every Hungrey Woman and Mountain Jam were outstanding, Kimock added a nice third guitar harmony to the mix and was welcome with open arms by both Warren and Derek! My son was blown away by the drum solo (he also is a drummer) as was I based on the fact that Jay Lane from Ratdog and Oteil joined in to the traditional JaBuMa! Mark played some tympani as did Butch and Oteil and Butch traded off the kit! It was mesmerizing. The show lasted about two hours which seems to be standard on this tour from what I have seen,
A great show by any standard but Gregg seemed a little quiet and the band didn't say to much, but it rocked none the less!!
My third of the summer and I have not heard Dreams, Ain't Wastin' Time No More or Whippin' post yet - go figure!!
I must say that this was a very active crowd (in every way) but as is the case with the corps., all around me were quite aware that I was with my son and were very discreet which was greatly appreciated.
My boy is now a new Peachead. He now understands why Dad loves this band so much and is already looking forward to his 2nd show!
