Eating the peach
My sweetheart and I celebrated his 50th birthday with the Allman Brothers on August 9 in Charlotte. You gotta do something special for a man on the anniversary of his 5th decade, so I whipped out the Visa and picked up 5th row center seats. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have mortgaged the farm for this show! Never have the Brothers cast a more magical spell; we were glad to be caught in the net! We could see into the eyes of the Brothers, and they spoon fed us like babies, then spun our heads around, took our brains out, painted them with sunshine, goodness and love, bounced them from Oteil to Derek to Marc to Butch to Greg to Jaimoe to Warren, who gently handed them back to us, intact and firing on all neurons, after Layla!
I hope the band understands what happened when we saw them in this form: we sat, we closed our eyes, we swayed, we cried; we watched quietly, dropjawed and catatonic; we danced like banshees; we were transformed, blessed and bathed in the goodness and love these men excude.
Rocking Horse gallops!!! May all the Brothers ride with the wind created from Derek Truck's angel wings!
